Our host for this Fun Monday is Hootin' Anni and her challenge was rather, well...fun. Not that the others aren't of course, it is just that some require me to think. And me? Not always a thinker.
The challenge was to take 30 giant steps in any direction, taking any turns needed, then to stop and take a picture. You are then to to turn around and take 15 baby steps.
I started from my computer and as my main floor is not huge I turned at the stairs. I did try taking 2 stairs as my giant steps but I think I slightly strained a muscle. Something hurt anyway. So I counted each stair as one step. I turned on the landing and took the final 7 stairs. Straight ahead would have taken me into my bedroom, to the left would take me to Liam and Taylor's rooms. I turned right, which is the longest bit of hallway, the way to Saoirse and Sophie's room, and the kids bathroom. Let me tell you, I was seriously hoping we wouldn't hit 30 near the bathroom, becuase that thing is not too pretty. Although I did clean it last week, so I don't think they have caused that much damage yet. Step 30 puts me dead smack in the middle of the girls' room. Straight ahead would have been the window, so with a slight turn to the right this is the picture you get:
This shelving is over Saoirse's bed. The top shelf has a Curious George stuffed animal, along with the Curious George topper from her cake last year. The globe she received for her birthday yesterday. I bought it years ago when I worked at Hallmark. It was for Walt Disney's 100th birthday. I have been holding on to it all this time, just waiting for a lover of all things Disney. The bottom shelf is 3 Irish beanie babies and on either end are 2 holy bears, the one on the left is the St. Patrick bear and the one on the right is the Irish Spirit bear. One year, at school we did a holy bears fundraiser and we bought 14. Including for some unknown reason a Scottish one. I think I meant to order the St. George and screwed up. As per usual.
I turned around and took 15 baby steps. This led me to my bedroom. I think maybe my steps weren't babyish enough. I probably should have ended up at the bend in the hallway. Anyway, I took a picture of one of my 2 pet peeves (previously mentioned on this blog), William's flags on the wall. This is his Liverpool one. I much prefer it to the Northern Ireland one. My bedroom is not a rec room, or a games room but I guess until I get one of those two this is where they are staying. He is not keen on using the garage as his room. Though I think they would be perfect there.
Saoirse's birthday post is below!

I love the conceit for this post--It made me think about all the directions I could head for those 30 steps.
Enjoyed your post and pictures. "We" have scarves from the favorite soccer teams...well, actually only from the FC Barcelona.
Happy Monday, my pics are posted :)
Terrific!! I love both photos...this may have been an unusual assignment, but hey---we're seeing a bit of different things this week instead of a certain subject!!! Love the curious george too. That's sweet.
You are a much better person than me...there's no way I could allow a flag in my bedroom (which is full of the biggest amount of crap)!
Those flags in your bedroom are hilarious. Although, I wouldn't be laughing if my husband put them in our bedroom!!!
Two words; no. way.
I, too, wouldn't allow a flag in my bedroom. Of course, my guest room would be ok (it's already full of all sorts of hockey crap!)
Lisa
Arrrgh! Flags, pennants, waddles and banners!!! Men are such pigs when it comes to decorating a wall.
Love the bears!
I agree with the others you are very tolerant to have flags on the bedroom wall. Embee does have tennis memorabilia on his study wall but this room is really only used for storage and he probably doesn't even remember what's there!!
Well, although I agree that I would not want the flags in the bedroom, I would say, it could be worse, he could insist they be in the living room for all the world to see. Wait, you put the on your blog...for all the world to see. Now they can come down.
That is a very neat shelf in the girls room. A nice array of bears and curious George.
YOU are a good and gracious wife! Were it ME - they'd BE in the garage!!! ROFL!!! You realllllly are gOOd!!!
Those flags remind me of my husband's stuffed fish and his Kramer poster--they're both in our garage. You're a good woman for "allowing" that! You deserve a medal or something.
Your daughter's shelf, on the other hand, VERY appropriate for little girls! Who doesn't love beanie babies?
I had stairs in my "30 steps" too--my giant ones were the same size as my baby ones so I wouldn't end up killing myself!
Maybe William DOES think your bedroom is a game room! LOL
Please, don't elaborate on that!!!
Great post! It has only taken me 22 years to get the Harley collection out of the bedroom and into the guest room! We don't have many guests and those that we do, understand.
curious george was my fav growing up;) i loved him.. in fact so much so that i bough a complete works book not so long ago;)
I have this vision of you slowly...backing...down...the...stairs. Who knew Fun Monday could be hazardous? Great photos!
Laughing at BlueMomma's comment LOL That little shelf is so perfect for a little girl's room, love it!
I love curious george. I too tried doing 2 stairs at a time going down but it still took me to the same place...even though I had options once downstairs.
But the bedroom is a rec room for the 2 of you right? :)
Were I just randomly picking a blog, I would've said, "All the Irish? Must be Emma!" And, Wm put flags in your bedroom??? Didn't you tell him the BR is supposed to be the den of desire??
Cute shelf! I need to find a way to display my daughter's stuffed animals. They are all hidden away in a toybox.
Maybe some day your husband will let you turn those flags into quilts or something - that way they could be neatly folded over a chair!
As much as I would love my own crafty-personal space, I think all men need caves so that this kind of thing does not happen ever again! :-)
Nice post, but those photos are for next year's Fun Monday!
Hey, my oldest daughter Rebekah has the same shelf.
Ava my baby would go ape shit retarded over the curious george toy. Great pics!
I have the second bear from the left too, if I only knew where it was.
My son's birthday is the 16th too. :) He'll be 20. Happy early birthday.
what's a holy bear? I've never heard of one.
You are very tolerant...I couldn't handle the flags either! Curious George is very cute.
Great pictures. Though I didn't know it was 2008 already. Did I miss a year. LOL! Has anyone else noticed your camera date?

What a fun post. I understand what you mean about flags. I haven't found too many men who know much of anything about decorating. LOL.
you were a good sport to follow the rules through your house!!
