English bloggers beware.

As all of you on Twitter know, yesterday my mother told me she is definitely moving back to England. She is going over in September to find an apartment (and to take a cruise AND to go to Dubai.) This is a move she has wanted to make for years but held off on as she worried about how I would do. Seriously. I guess she now thinks I am together enough or that I am a lost cause.

At first I was really sad about this news, for although my mum and I hit a rough patch earlier this year, the reality is I really do depend on her quite a bit. Free babysitting, free advice, answers to "how long do I boil an egg for" (yes, I really did call her with that question once upon a long time ago), she arranges to get my taxes done, she is the lender of money. Hmmm, no wonder she wants to move.

Trying to look positively at this news I realized it would mean a reason to go to England every few years. And do you know what that means? I can meet all my favourite English bloggers (and Canadians living abroad.) Happy days! Tiger Lamb Girl lives not far from the town where my mum will be living, Ms Cellania lives even closer. Ms Cellania is Beccy's mum and I can hope that visits to our mothers coincide. Suburban Mum, Hannah, Sally...I'd love to meet you all.

Yes, there are certainly pluses to my mum moving home in the next couple of years. Meeting bloggers is definitely one of them.

Wow, I'd flip out if my mom moved so far. Of course, my mom has no reason to move and she won't fly, so I don't think I have anything to worry about, lol.

At least you have a good outlook on the new circumstance...that's great!

If you don't mind trotting all the way up North, I'd love you to visit!

Of course, now that means that you have to find your birth certificate or whichever piece of paper it was you lost so that you can get your passport renewed...

But at least you have some time to do so!

I love having my mother far away. But your rough patch with your mom is just normal life for me.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing Catwoman was. Gotta find the birth certificate.

And, I'm so glad you're finding positives in this.

Is she planning to stay at THE hotel in Dubai?

I don't know when your mother was last in WSM but it has changed quite a lot in recent years with a lot of housing development!

Find your damn birth certificate Emma! Get your passport sorted!

Then when you come -- I'll come visit you...and if you wanna day away -- you can come stay with me for a night or two. Bwhaahaaa. GF, I know you're shy - but I'm not - and you'll be nattering away and laughing with me in no time.

The wine and champagne will have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I know your feeling well - about Mom moving so far away ... I was totally lost when my parents moved to CO almost 2 years ago, I never realized how much I depended on her, if only a "local" ear to listen. Now, I have a reason to visit every now and then (and little Sis lives there too !) Find that birth certificate and start making plans NOW !!

It is hard being away form family but it makes visits really special. And email helps a lot!
Glad your finding positives and may get to visit the UK.

I'd love you to come and visit too. You'll have to do a tour of the country (either that or makes us do a mass gathering and all meet up somewhere just for you!).

Well, that is a great silver lining in the situation. How exciting to meet all those bloggers.

I'll so be there at that party!

I would be so totally lost if my mother moved so far away! GAH! Even the thought sends shivers...! But, like you're doing, I'd survive. And I think it's totally nifty that you're looking at all the positives... (Hell, I've never even been to England.. Just sayin'.)

It'd be fun to meet some over seas bloggers!

It's hard though that you're mum's moving. I know you'll adapt but still. Sad.
