Since I have nothing better to do on a Friday night I did this geography quiz on the American states. Considering the fact that the last time I studied American geography was in the fifth grade I was quite impressed with my score of 146 out of 150. It just goes to show you how much we Canadians are influenced by the Americans. Since I have nothing to do on Saturday night either (my daughter has a much more exciting social life than I do) I will be tackling Europe. No point in doing Canada. 10 provinces and 3 territories does not an exciting quiz make. But you Americans go for it.
I have booked my girls weekend away for April. I am going here again. I'm a little hesitant about leaving Sophie for 3 days, especially as I am unable to pump. I worry that there will be nothing left by Sunday night. She'll be 8 months old so I guess it wouldn't kill either of us if her breastfeeding days were over, but I was hoping to reach a year. Other than that I am excited to get away, to make some cards and finally start scrapbooking for Sophie's book. I'm leaving on the Thursday, only 3 of us are going up that day, everyone else arrives on Friday. William said he will make sure to be home on the Friday, so that just means getting a sitter for a few hours on Thursday afternoon. Lately, I have done a lot of complaining about William, but I have to say that he is fantastic about me going away for the weekend (I only go once a year, but he would have no problem with me going twice) and all the stamping things I go to. I do have a few friends who have said their husbands would never stay with the kids alone for the weekend. He's definitely good that way.
Finally, it appears that spring is here. I am so sick and tired of snow and cold. What I forget about though is how much I hate melting snow and all the dog shit on the sidewalks. Seriously, is it so hard to carry a bag and pick up after your animal? The two little ones and I went up the road and I must have seen a dozen piles. Uck.
Saoirse spent the entire night in her bed last night. I brought her in to her room at 11 and she slept right through until 8. It would have been a fantastic night but Sophie woke up at 2 and ate on and off until I brought her down to William at 6.45 and said I just need to sleep for half an hour. I didn't sleep but I enjoyed lying in bed on my own. She was miserable all day today and by 1 pm I was so moody I just let her cry it out in her crib. She fell asleep and I cleaned Taylor's bedroom, which was a disgrace. William told her if she can't manage to keep it clean all her books are coming out. Hopefully that will work, because taking everything else certainly didn't matter to her. There are 5 baskets of her stuff sitting in the garage.
And speaking of Taylor, Angie, I will totally share the story of trying to drag my daughter into the shower. She may one day kill me for it, but in reality will probably show it to her future therapist and say "See, here is why I am so fucked up." It is a tale of my extreme ineptness as a parent.
And with that I am off to put daughter #2 into her own bed.

So I am from the U.S. and only got a 109 so you did better then me. What does that say! Pretty sad. But I have to admit I did this test after going out with my sis in law tonight. So I didn't do quite as well as I might. maybe I will try again in the am.
My hubby is pretty good about letting me go for a couple of days also. That is a good thing William is good with it.
Took one look at the US quiz and hopped over to the Europe one. Eastern Europe got me, I got 66 out of 117 not good!
Your weekend away is something to look forward to. We have the reverse here, Dillon and Mollie are away so it's very quiet!
I think it's good for Dads to spend time alone with the children especially for a few days, it shows them what looking after children 27/7 is really like. Although when I go away my mother-in-law tends to cook all the meals so Joules has it easy!
137/150 for me! I really need to study the western US!
Will get to the quiz a little later, but in the meantime you're VERY lucky William will sit for an entire weekend!!! WOW! I can't even imagine that! Seriously. Once every 6 weeks or so, I like to go out to Starbucks with a girlfriend for a coffee. She's my only single, childless friend so it's a nice, refreshing break from my world of pooh. It usually lasts for about 4-5 hours... And to date, I haven't been able to do it alone. Jeff is completely incapable - unwilling? - of handling BOTH kids for that length of time... and yet, at the same time thinks I have such an easy life at home... (there's my rant - can't do it on my own blog, so am using yours -sorry)
My4kids...I'm very anal about quizzes, I had a piece of paper where I drew a rough map first and listed every state I knew I was sure about.
Beccy...Eastern Europe messed me up to. It's a totally different map than when we studied Europe in Grade 11 Social Studies.
Wendy...my downfall was the north east...I always think that Mass is south of NY. Too many little states there.
Alissa... I'll admit that when Sophie was a few months old he called me home from my stamping club and said he would never do that again. Now that she eats food she's way better. And God knows, I need a few days away.
I'm pretty sure my father is turning in his grave (erm, box of ashes) over my score on the Canada one. Woopsies. I'm impressed with your US score. And a little disturbed because why in cod's sake would you know such things? Do they teach this in school or do you just find US Geography THAT exciting? :)
Girls weekend sounds divine. I'm sure you and Sophie and your boobs will be fine.
Please. Bring me. I promise the squeaking cat of an infant I should have by that time will be good. And I'll, um, bake brownies? From a box but whatever!
I attempted Europe but failed miserably. Damn former Soviet republics!!
136/150 for me. It is quite sad that I am American and you did better than me. Bleh.
I'm not even going to put my score on for the US, I failed miserably, lol. At least I got all the Aussie ones right!
Your weekend away sounds fantastic, you lucky thing. A well earned break I'm sure :)
I'm sure that you did way better than I would on the US quiz!
Have soooo much fun on your trip!!!!
I got a perfect score on the Canadian map, so I'm glad to see I didn't forget that geography. My US geography isn't that great though. Those middle states always get me confused and then the North East? Who can remember all those tiny little states. Ugh! Why does the US need 50 States anyway?
Scrapbooking...I'm so jealous! Can I come too? I USED to scrapbook, before baby. I miss it...HAve a great time!
