First Gretzky, now Beckham

Ah, the power of Los Angeles. Or rather the power of a wife who is a shitty actress. And while I was never put through the mind numbing torture of watching Posh Spice in Spice World (is that what that movie was called?) I did have the misfortune of seeing Janet Jones in American Anthem.

I remember the day Wayne Gretzky was traded to the Kings. We were actually on holiday in Disneyland. I remember watching the news and crying while I watched Wayne Gretzky say "I promised Mess I wouldn't do this." as he wiped away his own tears. Sad days. I wouldn't care today I am sure, but when I was 14 the Oilers were a pretty big part of my life. Wayne Gretzky and Janet Jones had gotten married just the month before in Edmonton's version of the royal wedding.

She was an actress, and I use the term loosely, who wanted to live in L.A. and so of course she got the blame for the trade.

And I am hearing that it is the same with Victoria Beckham (oh my God, had I thought of her when we named Sophie one of her middle names so would not be Victoria)- that she wants to be an actress and that L.A. is the best place for her. Or is it fashion she wants to be involved in? I hope not, based on the way she dresses.

Obviously, Mr. and Mrs. Beckham did not conside the effect this was going to have on me. Because I sort of hate them. Not sort of. I really do. He is part of the reason I hate Man U so much. She is just irritating with her fake boobs and fake everything else. I think she is skinnier than my 90 pound 11 year old daughter.

And now that they will be living in Los Angeles I will be seeing them in every magazine I read. Yikes. People magazine, I will not spend $4.49 if you have even one photo of them in that weeks layout.

Anyway, it seems sort of odd to me that you would leave a European team to come to North America, where the teams, lets face it, are pretty freaking shitty. I suppose he will do wonders for the sport here, which will make me hate him more. I'm petty like that.

I wonder how long it will be before he gets Frank Yallop fired as coach? After all, coaching the Canadian mens soccer team probably doesn't give you all that much power.
