Fun Monday- My semi finished project

Today's Fun Monday is being hosted by Karmyn, go over to her blog for the full list of participants. Today, we were to show something we have made. I've been showing a few of my things on here, and since scrapbooking and card making is all that I can do I have to stick with that theme.

This is, as I mentioned in my last post, the project we made at May's stamp club. I didn't make it there until the end, just enough time to place my order and pick out what remained of the paper. And slim pickings it was. I do like this paper, but when I picked it out I had no idea what I was going to do with the art journal.

And I had no idea until I had already mod poged the paper on to the covers what I would do with it. I decided to turn it into a memory book for Taylor, to remember her elementary school days. Had I known this would turn into a book for my oldest I would have used purple and a lot of it. Anyway, the chipboard piece with the ribbon is stamped with the word cherish. As in cherish these days, because the seventh grade and junior high are coming up quickly and it really is a whole new world. One that I hope brings her many new friends, as well as maintaining the old and a better belief in (and respect for) her abilities.

There are quite a few pages in this journal and I will have three dividers. The first one will be for friends. I have sent out an email to the mum's whose addresses I know requesting pictures of their kids. If I can find the time without taylor finding out what I am doing I am hoping to get over to the school and have those kids write something about her, or at least sign their name next to the picture. If not, I will just write something about them...how long they have been friends or whatever. The second section, and you see the divider here, is for her teachers. Her kindergarten teacher is long gone, but all the others are still at the school. Her second grade teacher has been on mat leave for this year but I am pretty sure I can still get her picture. I emailed the principal tonight looking for help in getting the teachers' pictures. Taylor really loved her Grade 4 teacher, so I think I will probably ask her to write soemthing about Taylor. I am sure she will, this is the same lady who called me up one night in February to get our new address so she could send Taylor a Valentines card.

The last section will be memories of elementary school and I will include pictures of school dances, first days, hot lunches and whatnot. I think Taylor will really get a kick out of this. At least I hope so. And I hope that it will be finished prior to the end of June.

I can't believe there's less than a month of school left. But that's a whole other post. One which may include a rant.

Wow, Emma. I wish you were MY mom! I love that idea. I only wish I was crafty enough to do it myself. It's a really nice way to cherish those good memories from school. A nice place to put her report cards too. I have one report card from my elementary days and I think it's hilarious. One of the comments from my techer says: "Debbie spends too much time talking to her neighbours in class". Not much has changed!

Thats a really great idea, Emma. Izzak has changed schools 5 times since starting Kindergarten so this would be difficult to try to get pics of his old friends. I love to scrapbook so I will feature some of my scrapbooking tonight when I get home for my fun monday post.

That stuff looks really great, I'm mucho impressed. But what really made the trip here worthwhile was that for the first time in my life I was able to read the words "I had already mod poged the paper" now if I just knew what they meant...

Emma,

That is such a lovely idea! As I scrolled down and looked at each bit, it just got prettier and prettier. I'm afraid if I got started on this kinda crafty project, I'd get addicted and never come up for air!

I'm jealous of your talent, and inspired to try a little book for my son's promotion ceremony from elementary school!

VERY nice! I'm a "scrapper", so I could TOTALLY get into making my own scrapbook covers.

Thanks for sharing...

Peace to you on "Peace Globe Day" 2007!
