The Conservative government is looking to raise the age of consent from 14 to 16, with a "close in age" exemption.
I can't believe I agree with something that the Conservative party has put forth. In fact, I would take it one step further and raise the age to 18.
It is one thing for teenagers to have sex, most people I know had had at least one sexual partner before the age of 18. And the great majority of those teenagers were having sex with other teenagers. It is another matter totally when teenagers are having sex with adults.
At 14 or even 17 are kids wise enough to know that if they are having sex with someone in their 30s they are completely being taken advantage of, even if they consented to the act? I don't think so myself. I look back to me at that age and know that I would have had absolutely no clue. And I thought I was pretty smart, that I knew all there was to know about sex and relationships. How naive was I?
This motion was defeated just last September under the Liberal minority government. I would hope that this time it goes ahead.

If any adult was caught having sex with a 14 year old here, he (or she) would be in jail.
They would here as well, if it was considered rape. But not if the girl or boy said yes.

It is legal to have sex with a consenting 14 year old. My opinion is that at 14 you don't have the smarts to be aware of what exactly you are consenting to.
Ok, at 14 I hardly knew what sex was!!! I think 17 is a good age of consent. I think it's 16 or 17 here. It never concerned me because I wasn't interested in sex as a teenager because I never met anyone I wanted to have sex with. In fact I was 25 before I met someone I wanted to have sex with.
Anyway I say 17 because I know that most teenagers aren't like I was as a teenager and have relationships and things. I don't know about Canada but here when you are 17 you can work, you have to pay income tax, you can drive a car, you can play the lottery ie gamble, you can buy cigarettes, you are no longer entitled to child fares on buses and trains and you no longer have to attend school. These are all adult things. So I reckon if all that applies to you, then you are an adult and entitled to make the decision to have sex if you want.
Definitely 14 is far too young!!! I agree with you that at 14, you can't really understand what sex is and don't know what you are getting into.
Gosh the age of consent is 14 in Canada?! Wow! That's far far too young. As far as I know it's 17 here in Ireland and even that I think is a little young, I'd be happier if it were 18. But at least at 17 you've probably left, or are leaving, school, probably got a part time job, have your own bank account etc, are a litle more grown up. 14 is still a child. I never thought I would say this either, but I hope the Conservatives win on this!
In Ireland it's 17 for a girl and 15 for a guy which I think is stupid. A 17-year-old guy can be arrested for sleeping with a 15-year-old girl but it's perfectly legal for a 15-year-old guy to sleep with a 17-year old girl!
I think it should be set at 16, which is the UK's age of consent I think, as I feel anything below 16 is just too young.
There's a close in age exemption, so that teenagers can go it at like rabbits, apparently.
hell no if they want it at 14 send them to me I love young p---y, I would do 11 and up, under 11 oral with no lower age limit for me, everyone makes a big deal but as long as it is not forced and it is gentle and loving I don't see a problem, if you are gentle with them even very young they like being touched, what 2 year old is going to know what it means if you rub or lick her p---y when you change her pull up, sit a baby on your lap and GENTLY rub her p----y she will kick and coo like crazy because it feels good, same with a boy if you play with his dick it gets hard
