Somehow 5 months later the excitement just isn't there

I admit that I love celebrity gossip. Especially baby gossip. So while I never believed that there was never a baby Cruise or that there was something wrong with her, I did wonder what this couple who had been so blatantly lovey dovey for the papparazi for the last year was up to. Why suddenly go all camera shy? It was a wee bit odd.

And yesterday when I switched over to Katie Couric's first time as the host of the CBS evening news what was she talking about? The Cruise family on the cover of Vanity Fair. For this she left the Today show? Not exactly hard news. In fact the whole show was very Today-ish, from the plump armchairs to the never ending toothy grin.

And I first I looked and said "What the fuck is that?" Because all I could see was black and a bit of the palest skin. It took me a minute to realize that she was inside her father's coat and it totally blended with her hair. And what a head of hair! I have never been partial to babies with a ton of hair though there are certainly some cute ones in baby blog land. Her hair overwhelms her, and it's so black it appears dyed. But she is cute, as most babies are. Except for in the picture of her lying on Katie's chest in which she just looks frightening.

Or perhaps she is just frightened by the craziness that is her family.
