You say you've got a terrible mother...

I missed Sophie's first birthday update/letter. I was going to a grand one for her 13 month birthday but here it is, almost 11 pm on the 10th of September, she is 13 months and almost 12 hours old and what have I done?

Nothing. Feck all. Not a picture posted, there is no list of all the things she is doing, there is no record of how suddenly the whole house went quiet and then I found her drinking toilet water, no mention of her 6 teeth or her screaming everywhere she goes just to let us know she has left or entered a room. No writing about her shoe obsession and her funky new purple hightops. Or her love of books and giving hugs.

No there's none of that here, because I happen to be a shitty, crappy mother.

Oh, and my dad's here, which just takes all the fun out of sitting at the computer all by my lonesome.

But he gave me money so I can live with it.

And anyway, Sophie will never know.

Since you'll all be reading this on Tuesday go wish a happy birthday to the fantastically funny Catwoman, a girl who makes me smile everytime I read her. And sometimes? I even have a depends moment. Although she does somehow work it out so that she beats me at that scrabble game on facebook.

You're not a terrible mother, Emma. You're just busy and a little overwhelmed at times. Who isn't from time to time?!

Chin up -- you still rock;).

You are SO not a terrible mom. I have ONE child....she's 20 months old. I realized two nights ago that I haven't written ANYTHING in her baby book since March. MARCH.

I have no clue when she did this, or got that tooth or anything.

I? Suck as a mother.

You? A terrible mom? Hardly. And, Catwoman was 50 points behind me in scrabble & still came back & beat me.

Oooooooooh my goodness. Drinking toilet water?! How could you let her do that, you terrible mother?! Hahaha....just kidding. Of course, you are a wonderful mother, but please tell me you made her brush her teeth afterwards!

You're right. You do suck.

But at least your father gave you money.

After 4 kids? I can understand...with LP, his first times go unnoticed most times, then I realised he has a full set of teeth or that his new words are "Oh Gosh!"
AND he drinks his soapy bath water!

Wow, thanks for the b-day thoughts! Love how poor Sophie's post becomes about me! Ha!!!! :)

And I'd say you're as FAR away from being a bad mom as one can get.

Because a bad mom? Wouldn't even realize that she didn't post. And if she did realize, she wouldn't give a hoot.

You are nowhere near a bad mom!! You are a mom of 4 with a job, a home, a parent in town, a man to take care of (you know they can't do that themselves).

Sophie loves you and you love her and that's all that matters!

Alyssa has a shoe obsession too!

If it makes you feel any better. Get this. I wrote everything down for my first child in a beautiful baby book.

My son (2nd child) never even got a baby book.

I made loads of home videos of my first baby. Um, I think we have three of my last baby. I also took photos almost every day of our first baby. With the second baby? He was lucky if I snapped one a month.

Shit, thanks a lot Emma. Now I'm realising what a horrible mother I am! :)

Nope. Not a terrible mother. A busy mother! Yes. Terrible? Not.

Your not a terrible mother Emma! I know the feeling especially since I have 4 kids also. There is just no time and with your father in town even more so. Thats cool he gave you money though! I wanna see the cool new funky purple high tops though! Maddie has purple boots when she was that age and they were so cute!

Hey, what makes you think you can be a better mom than the rest of us and be on time with anything with 4 young un's to tend to. You are normal like the rest of us over extended parents and you're right, she won't even realize what you have done, but she will remember or have a feeling based on the hugs and the smiles at her antics. You are doing just fine.
