Saoirse was 20 months old yesterday, which absolutely amazes me. Because you see, I never thought I would have a third child. With almost 9 years between Saoirse and Liam it really is like starting over. I sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I had not met William and had her, it seems as though it would be pretty empty.
This was the month that Saoirse learned her first swear word. You would think that she would have learned this certain word from her father, who swears like the Irishman he is, but no- this particular word was courtesy of her mother. As previously mentioned, I find it very difficult to get out of bed these days. As I maneuver my way over to the edge of the bed (which, really, is not that far to go as a certain little girl takes up an awful lot of space for such a tiny being.) and try to throw my legs over the edge of the bed I will inevitably utter a single word: "Fuck." A powerful word, fuck is. It conveys so many things- anger, happiness, desire, frustration... the list could go on. Anyway, I'm out of bed and we make our way down the stairs. I'm not sure what happened on that bottom stair- did she slip? step on a toy? just want everyone to hear the word she was about to say in all its glory? I really don't know but needless to say she said "fuck" exactly the way I had minutes earlier. The fuck that is said with an ounce of frustration. And what does one say upon hearing their toddler swear for the first time? My first reaction was a swear word, said in my head thankfully because I did not need her learning two bad words in one day. I chose to ignore the fact that she had sworn, after all she really has no clue that it is bad. I had ignored the health nurse's advice to ignore her nose picking as it is true that the more attention given the more she will do it. And believe me, that girl can pick her nose like a champ.
What else happened in the last month?
She had her first popsicle, as well as her first fudgicle. She loves freezies, but is not keen on vanilla ice cream. She is absolutely mad about slushes, which is a terrible thing for her to love at such an early age. Shame on her parents!
She has absolutely fallen in love with her older sister. "Where's Tay?" is what I hear all day long. She runs up the stairs to Taylor's room if I ask her to wake her up. She cries when Taylor leaves the house and even allows Taylor to give her a bath (one of the privileged few.) She's not as taken with Liam but that's probably because Liam is much more aloof with her. Typical boy.
Besides the new swear word, there are plenty of others. All sorts of animals, body parts and foods amongst others. My current favourite is dance. And she does love to dance. She seems to have no interest in colours, numbers or the alphabet though. Which is reminiscent of a toddler aged Liam, who from the age of three I knew would have some sort of learning disability. So that worries me. She loves to read though, so I am hoping the interest in other things comes along. She's not a big T.V. watcher, which is a huge plus.
She appears to have a reaction to mosquito bites and scratches until they go rock hard, bleed and scab over. Uck. She wants to be outdoors more than anything and since she can see the park from the kitchen window and the patio door she is always saying "Park...swing...slide...come, come...park."
She's trying to dump the afternoon nap, but will not dump the dummy! She's also gone back to favouring her bottle over cups. What to do?
I'm ending this unfinished as I have been working on this off and on for ages and I really should be packing, which is what I am going to do as soon as I see if she falls asleep.

Hi Emma-
God ! Have you ever been NOT pregnant ?
Last word on Italy v France-
This IS kosher........
Since Sunday evening the whole World has been debating what Italian
defender Marco Materazzi said to Zinedine Zidane to make the retiring
Frenchman react in the way he did. The French captain, in his last ever
professional game, thrust his head into Materezzi's chest in Sunday's
World Cup Final resulting in a red card and shame for Zidane. Today,
with the help of Italian lip-reader Arturo Belladini, we can reveal
what
drove Zidane to self destruct;
Materazzi was seen to hold Zidane's shirt on the edge of the penalty
boxin extra-time at which point Zidane said "if you want my shirt so
bad
you can have it"
Materazzi responded
"I dont want your shirt you m***** f*****. you're a f****** old man"
As they jog away Zidane is seen to laugh at this and it is unclear how
he responded due to him having his back to the TV camera
Materazzi then hit a volley of abuse "you should've quit 2 years ago,
you're a f****** has-been" "m***** f*****! your mum is a f****** muslim
terrorist and you are to, f*** you old man f*** you"
"old man, this arena is not for you anymore m***** f****. Your sister
is
a whore and the whole Italian team has f***** her" "f*** off you bald
c*nt"
Zidane carries on jogging away
Materazzi continues "you are now only good enough for the Rangers"
It's at this very point Zidane turned and head-butted him.

Happy Belated 20 months Saoirse!!!
Oh Emma.. they grow up far to fast dont they?
Noel...what's with all the f***? If you read thatpost, you would see that I am obviously one who is not offended by swearing. Although playing for the Rangers would surely be traumatic even that wouldn't warrant a headbutting. Amazing how quickly those jokes make their way around though.
Tonya, they definitely do. I'm going to suggest the next one stay a baby forever.
just a little yung to f--k baby girl but we can certainly do lots of other stuff and soon u will be old enuf
